CUBS CENTRAL
(12-12)
Tied 3rd; -2.5
Streak: L L

CHC 3 – ARZ 8
Kyle Hendricks had an off night and the Cubs dropped their second in-a-row. The Professor allowed three-spots in the first and fifth, and departed having allowed 7 ER in five innings. The D-backs had five extra base hits and went 6-for-19 with RISP. Kris Bryant homered, his first since Opening Day, and Javy Báez belted his 9th HR of the season. Arizona has won 5-straight and 10 of 12; the Cubs are back to .500.

BOX SCORE
Almora: 4-5, R
Báez: 2-4, HR (9), RBI
Brayant: 1-3, HR (3), 2 RBI

Hendricks: 5.0 IP – 7 ER, 10 H – 1 BB, 3 K
Bullpen:     3.0 IP – 1 ER, 1 H – 5 BB, 3 K

HEY HEY HEY
After an 0-for-15 skid, Almora has 5 hits in his last 6 at-bats.
Including a four-hit night on Friday, matching a career-high.

PEN CHECK
Still have doubts with this bullpen. It’s been a good run the past couple weeks.
But there are cracks:

WALKS
Tyler Chatwood was back to his usual tricks on Friday: 2 walks in  1.0 IP.
That’s 9 walks in 13.0 IP this season.
In a key spot … I wouldn’t trust Chatwood for a second.
Brad Brach: 11 walks in 10.2 IP.

HITS / IP
Allen Webster: 11 hits in 6.2 IP.
Steve Cisheck: 10 hits in 9.2 IP.
Randy Rosario: 8 hits in 7.0 IP.
Tim Collins: 5 hits in 3.1 IP.

MAPLE DAY
Following Thursday’s game Rosario was sent to Iowa; Dillon Maples was called up.
Maples replaced Hendricks on Friday. He walked the first two batters then struck out the side, stranding the runners.

NEXT – Sat. at ARZ, 7:10 p.m. CT
Yu Darvish (1-3, 5.96 ERA)
Zack Godley (1-1, 6.67 ERA)

MADDON’S POST
Joe Maddon’s new Wrigleyville restaurant will serve Italian and Polish cuisine.
The doors officially open on Tuesday, May 14.
