About Final

Hi. I’m Brian. This is my blog covering the Chicago Cubs.

WHAT TO EXPECT
If you require a daily fix of Cubs baseball, checking probable starters, scouring the transactions wire, or perusing league box scores—this is a place for you. Welcome aboard. Posts are neatly packaged, free of clutter, free of ads, and free to read. Whatever I find interesting I write about here.

WHAT NOT TO EXPECT
I’m not a prospect hound or an analytics junkie. There are plenty of quality blogs that closely follow the up-and-comers and the fancy numbers—this is not one of them. If a Cubs prospect begins making waves at Triple-A, he’s on my radar. And while I do appreciate and value advanced statistics, they don’t drive the bus here. My focus is on the Cubs season and the major league rosters.

PLAY BALL
Bullpen Brian was originally established in 2007. Following the 2012 season, the site took an extended hiatus while I published exclusively for MLB.com as the real-time correspondent at Wrigley Field. I’ve restored the site for the start of the 2019 campaign, and I hope many more seasons to come.

BACK OF THE BASEBALL CARD
Prior to working at MLB.com, my Bullpen Brian posts were published on the Chicago Sun-Times news group media sites, Yahoo! Sports contributor pages, and various other baseball blogs. Additionally, I was a radio broadcaster in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League and NCAA Division I baseball; and a radio studio host and a sports director at two radio stations. Basically, I’ve had baseball on the brain.

MOUND MEETING
Should we cross paths at Wrigley, please say hello. We have so much to discuss.
